292.6

So either I’m exercising more than I planned or the healthy choices are kicking in to a degree, because I know it has been a fairly busy week for me.

I will run down a quick summary of what I was up with this week, besides being obviously too busy to get in a quick post earlier. Steve managed to get ahold of me on Tuesday to see if I wanted to head to a Sens game with him were we managed to see Spezza score the shoot-out winner against Philly. Wednesday I did the Big Brother routine, not the reality show which I can not be bothered to watch – but drop off a care package of food. Thursday I managed to hit the Hobby Shop for a game of MTG and then do a bit of shopping with Mona. Friday we went to the gym and then saw Spiderwick Chronicles and I have to say it deserves its high ratings – I have to say i enjoyed it more than the Golden Compass. Saturday was bowling with some friends – and it was “silly bowling”, I managed to get a strike while waddling with a balloon between my legs…. yet it wasn’t pretty I did worse than everyone after that. A game of regular bowling later and still well below my average. Sunday was finish up on groceries and cooking.

To be added later – shots of me making Homemade Paneer.

Time to finish watching BHC.

Family Day Weekend

I did not vote in the provincial election – as a matter of principal – I do not vote when not uptodate on the issues and the people I could be voting for. So this year’s big election promise has come to pass – an additional long weekend in February. I have to say its about time that we had an early long weekend and I waiting for this one with much anticipation as we had decided to forego any special Valentine’s Day gifts/activities in order to maximize our spending on this weekend.

The first thing I did a few weeks ago was followup with something that James was mentioning at work. The website Priceline.com, it saved me effectively 200$ on two nights of hotel rooms. With a quick search I was able to isolate the hotel I want and the range it normally goes for and got it at the appropriate price, rather lucky on the first attempt but it made things simple.

Next up was activities – which resulted in a 4h walk around the local malls, visit to Dave and Busters, a movie (Juno), and Medieval Times. It was quite the enjoyable experience even if we did have to leave the cat’s at home with the auto feeder running and a quick check by family. Anything more than 2 days though would have required a pet sitter.

I will post some pictures when time provides. On a side note I did fall off the wagon and have 2 diet pepsi this weekend – for those that do not know i am cutting back and eating healthy – by Friday I had seen 9lbs lost. I behaved for the most part considering we constantly ate out so am happy at that.

A little more to say on Juno – I really enjoyed this movie and was glad to be able to see it, I hope that they honor it with a few awards.

MTL has caught OTT @ 73 pts on the season – go Habs. Now coming into the home stretch I hope both teams excel.

When you have unsuccessfully made a post for another whole week you have to wonder your commitment to blogging – but it is a time of renewed commitment. No I am not talking about Lent but more so the attempt to right the sinking ship that is my weight management – through various means I managed to reach 320lb’s last summer and had worked hard to fix that getting down to 300 before stagnating and hitting the holiday season without maintaining that weight loss. A scheduled trip to the Nutritionist showed that while I’ve maintained the 300lbs since my last visit – I’ve lost 7-8lbs of muscle since then…. not good at all – so I’ll be cataloging a private page with the exact numbers for the next several months as a reminder tool.

In the last week:

MTL has went 1-1 against OTT, and 0-1 against TOR – but what frustrates me most was the Kovalev short handed goal. In any case, OTT destroyed MTL on Saturday with a 6-1 pizza win.

I’ve finished with Mona’s help 2 Xbox games – CSI & TMNT.

I’ve won an FNM (split the finals) – MORMORLOR (Elementals mostly – nothing spectacular but did rare draft a Bosk & MindSpring).

Watched The Last Legion and now looking at the RT ranking you can see why I wasn’t overwhelmed by it – I have to agree I did not really buy into Firth as the Hero – but it was campy and about Excalibur so I still liked it but do not waste your time on it. (4/10 vs the 4.9/10 for King Arthur).

Looking forward to the next week:

Medieval Times & a getaway weekend trip.

Tae Kwon Do Classes – have been missing them lately.

Volleyball – our 4-76 season continues.

Superbowl Hangover?

I drank and drank and well the diet coke did nothing. It was a fun weekend albeit a bit busy. First was Friday where we had plans to videogame with Shehan and Nali but there was a minor problem – Xbox Live didn’t support 2 Live players on one console – so we had to switch from Ultimate Alliance to Halo – in the end it was fun and I’m very far from my days where I was a crack shot and fairly decent at FPS’s.

Saturday was a busy day as well, I got up early and made it over to Algonquin for the MTG Release Event – where I knew I was staying for one game – so with lethal damage possible (and a 2-0 Win) – I conceded to my opponent so he could have a better chance at getting some prizes – it was a great experience I was a severe underdog and had managed to pull out a great win so it gave me a little extra jump in my step as lately I’ve been down about MTG and not playing at a high level against good players. This was followed up with some relaxing and a trip with Mona and Nat to Montana’s – where I got my usual – Apple Butter Rib Tips. After that we were able to get in some UA with Shehan and Nali after purchasing a second copy (used). I’ve beat UA some time ago but its so much more fun with 4 people and randomly trying the weaker characters and hearing some of the dialog – its cheesy so I enjoy it.

Sunday was the big day though – early to rise I was able to make a cheese plate, homemade chicken bites, and set up some veggies and finish cleaning (vacuuming…. whose idea was it to get a long-haired cat?). People showed up at different junctions and there was only a small blip – Jeff didn’t have the full address (my fault) – and was unable to find the place and gave up and went home – had people not been drinking heavily when he called we would have picked him up. Speaking of amusing though – never let Mona near a Trivia game with multiple people when she’s not playing – blurting out random answers were particularly funny when they’re wrong and 2-3 people believed her. Rockband was a hit as at 1/2 time people forgot to go back to the game and kept playing but most of us were happy to watch the last 10 minutes and see the Giants beat the Patriots.

Pictures available later.

Catch you all later – hopefully to gloat about an MTL win. Oh well, even though MTL narrowly managed to beat OTT once this week, Saturday’s defeat from the Sens was complete and powerful.
