The final part of my extra long weekend wrapped up with a day trip to Wakefield to take a ride on the Steam Train (www.steamtrain.ca).
It was an enjoyable experience and we were blessed with a the lack of rain. I did notice with the limited amount of time we were able to spend before the train returned that it seemed like everyone was always in the stores we wanted to look around the most. With that minor problem we only got a cursory flavour of the area, which implies we’ll have to go again some time next year for a longer visit.

If anyone was watching the MTL D decided it was an All-Star game last night and felt it necessary to leave Carey Price out to dry on many occasions….
You have to give me credit for being consistent – I’ve managed to not post for 5 months, and in that time i’ve also managed to cut back on my gaming and work on a number of other things. I almost feel the need to re-cap what I’ve been up to but I’ll limit it to a few major categories:
Work: Still here, still waiting to be sold, still under utilized but have hopes of being rewarded in the future so likely sticking it out.
Softball: Lost Finals on both teams (one League, one Consolation… Had a nice HR in the Semi’s of league, and watched the Cosole finals decided by a ringer the other team was allowed to bring).
Weight: Started p90x but have stalled as of late – still down 12lbs from the start of it and more than 20 this summer/fall.
Gaming: Cut back on MTG hardcore, and Xbox, playing minimal PS3 and I get in 3-4h a week on LOTRO with some work people.
Activies: Kayaked only once this summer although it was a better experience than last time.. although how hard is it to say it was better than that capsizing episode.
Relationship: Good no change there.
Family: All still alive, all still with their usual problems.
I’ll try and be around more,

Tensor has finally made an ankle support with enough velcro straps that not only is it perfectly functional but it also provided me enough support to stand around and shuffle a few feet here and there to “play” some Tennis.
By play I mean pick up a racket for the first time since 1998 and try to send the ball over the net in Rally form.
Looks like the rain will come today after all.

I’d love to come up with an explaination that would validate why I haven’t made the time to blog lately but it again amounts to me just not making the time for it. Even right now the only reason time is being made is that I’m stuck watching a painful 2h install and it doesnt require a mouse to blog.
Why is a mouse so important – well I managed to injure myself before the first BNR game of the season – walking out I noticed my first Nortel Boss circa 2001 and stopped to say hello when I rolled my ankle pretty good. I proceeded to pitch 7 innings of the BNR game (18-10 win) but was constantly doing more harm to it – in particular the inside the “park” home run was quite the painful experience. In the end though it could be worse and I’ll tough it out though I’ll probably ride the pine for the next Moxies game.
After the game though we headed over to see Wolverine and I have to say I’m disapointed that it wasn’t better written with a story that grabbed you more. The material was there in other tellings of Logan’s Origin so I don’t see how they could have messed it up so easily.
Coming up on my plate is supposed to be:
Tennis/Biking (pending wonky ankle)
Garden Work (Re-seeding hasnt taken yet)
Decorating (Morph Spare-bedroom)
and we’ll see what else I can get in.
Go Caps & Nuk’s
Kovalev scores on his shootout shot tonight – but it was not enough….
I got to listen to the third period tonight – one of the few vices i’ve been getting to lately. I missed the Hockey Game on Sunday night (sorry Dan and Dan) – i got sidetracked with getting something done for work…. and at 2am I gave up….
Time to Jet!
A real post soon.

This quote is another in a long line of zingers that are brought to you by the letters S and G.
I did manage to see a bit of Star Gate Season 1 this weekend as well as get a few things I needed doing done.
The purpose of this quote though is to remind you that no matter how long it takes to do something that sometimes seems impossible if you try – its possible you might surprise yourself.
I get to start trying all over again @ the Gym. We’ve decided to join Goodlife again and go regularly.
Anyway I’m way behind schedule – the daylight change always does that.

1. Kovalev can play when motivated.
2. The Senators should still lose and “re-model” the team some more – I did like Campoli’s play.
3. With the Flu its never over until its really over!
4. When someone stops by just to say hey – invite them in you moron even if you were busy playing an online tournament – and they said they were just passing through (sorry about that again btw).
5. I guess the fifth one is that I have to decide whats potentially more important – a chance to follow through on one goal (a “fake” triathalon – or the 2-4 concurrent playoff games I probably have scheduled on Sept 5th)
The fact that I didnt choose softball right away for number 5 is almost surprising in my estimation – after last year maybe I have burnt out on it a little bit – I’m starting to feel that way with alot of things (including snow).

Got to play poker at Costas’ tonight – it was good if you exclude the 4 straight hand losing decent sized pots on the river, the habs and sens losing, and being out first.
It was still a relaxing evening that I don’t get out to do enough – I really have to re-prioritize a number of activities I have or don’t have on my plate.
Now that work is settled – new “organization” of the team I’m in with no real affect to what I’m doing for several months it may be time to get out of the doldrums of winter and prepare for the summer and when activities really take off.
What does that mean? It means my current lack of exercise is finally coming to a close – the New Year’s Resolution gets a Start Date and people can now bitch when I eat things I shouldn’t.
There is one thing I’ve always thought about doing and maybe its time I put up or shut up in regards to completing the activities of a triathalon. Its very weird that I seldom mention this but I was one of those crazies that used to actually watch the Ironman for an hour or two whenever it was on back in highschool. I envied those athletes, I considered them above and beyond the NXX sports (NBA/NHL/NFL – and MLB).
So yes I have to now come up with a reasonable plan for a out of shape male to potentially take 4 months to train for a triathalon. In the meantime I’m looking forward to the following things:
There’s so many other things I could add but I really shouldn’t because my success rate at extracurriculars has been lagging for some time.
Take it easy while you get the chance – eventually it catches up to you and it’ll be time to bring goals into view and bear down on them.

I couldn’t really find as good a quote as I wanted but this does describe how I feel about apache-xmlrpc – It did what I wanted in such a convoluted way that I’ve managed to switch implementations and accomplish the same level of sucess in a few hours that have consumed a few days.
The learning process over the last few days I’m sure helped make the turnaround time possible but I’m still positive I’ve made the right decision.
I will make a note though that some of my quotes just don’t seem right coming from someone who’d been in fear of layoffs for sometime – I think they might be concerned that someone goes postal if they get laid off and any quips like the one above can probably be misconstrued.
It was a successful work day though I’m glad to have killed one path to success to get on one that’s infinitely shorter.
